Meet Dr. Kyle Song

Dr. Song’s approach is compassionate and supportive, but it doesn’t end there. His education, extensive experience, medical contributions, and local and national recognition make him an Orange County leader for both plastic and reconstructive surgeries. Dr. Song started Song Plastic Surgery in 2012 as a single-surgeon private practice, and brought on his dad and expanded into a full medspa and self-contained outpatient surgery center in 2014.  They brought on another partner, Dr. Ali, in 2019, and in 2020 opened their second location with an integrated medspa in Ladera Ranch.

In his free time, Dr. Song likes to race triathlons, surf, golf, and travel with his wife and two children. If you are interested in scheduling a consultation with Dr. Song, please contact our friendly office staff. We are more than happy to answer any and all of your questions.

Background and education

Dr. Song earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Dartmouth College. While he worked to complete his academic coursework, he also spent time volunteering at a local children’s hospital. He then achieved his medical degree from the University of California, Davis, where he graduated at the top of his class.

In fact, he scored in the 99th percentile nationally on his board exams. Consequently, his prestigious academic profile secured him a spot in the highly competitive General Surgery/Plastic Surgery program at U.C. Davis.

Extraordinary achievements

While enrolled in the General Surgery/Plastic Surgery program at UC Davis, Dr. Song trained under the tutelage of some of the most renowned cosmetic plastic surgeons in the country, including Dr. Thomas Stevenson (former director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery); Dr. Granger Wong (prestigious Harvard-trained craniofacial surgeon); Dr. Michael Wong (prominent body contouring expert), and Dr. Lee Pu (internationally-renowned fat grafting expert). During this time, he was the recipient of the prominent Francis W. Noel Award for scholarly activity, and in 2011, he was the runner-up for the resident research competition at the California Society of Plastic Surgeons annual meeting.

Fellowship-trained

Following the General Surgery/Plastic Surgery program at U.C. Davis, Dr. Song went on to complete a fellowship at the Plastic Surgery Center of Sacramento. There he focused exclusively on cosmetic surgical and non-invasive treatments for the face, breast, and body.

Researcher

Dr. Song’s skills are enhanced through continuing his medical education, as well as by conducting clinical research that has been published in several peer-reviewed periodicals. He has also authored a chapter in a textbook that focuses on the subject of Asian cosmetic surgery. His work has been presented in multiple venues on a regional, national, and international level.

Giving back: A focus on helping children

In addition to his practice in southern California, Dr. Song has provided reconstructive surgical services to children in some of the most impoverished areas of the world. He has performed numerous cleft lip and cleft palate repair for children in Egypt, and has worked extensively in Tijuana, Mexico, providing victims of the Hermosillo Daycare fire with reconstructive surgery.
