Do you want to restore facial volume, remove wrinkles, or enhance your hair’s thickness without surgeries or extensive downtime? ALMI is a groundbreaking, non-surgical and minimally invasive procedure that encourages tissue and cellular regeneration in your body, using your own tissues to provide cosmetic benefits. At South Coast Plastic Surgery, our plastic surgeons personalize each treatment to your specific needs for optimal aesthetic results.

What is ALMI?

ALMI, short for autologous lipocyte micronized injection, is a minimally-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses your body’s tissues to enhance facial volume and improve skin and hair texture. While most injectable treatments add external substances into your body to “fill” the skin, ALMI triggers your body’s own cell and tissue regeneration abilities, ensuring long-lasting results without side effects or complications. ALMI procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, they conclude within an hour and they’re used to enhance your face, neck, hands and hair.

How does ALMI work?

Collagen is a fibrous protein that makes your skin look firm and youthful. As you grow older, your body slows down collagen production — your skin loses around 20% of the collagen by the time you’re in your 40s. Most injectables temporarily infuse your skin with fillers, making it appear voluminous, without addressing the underlying loss of collagen. As such, the results fade away as your body metabolizes the dermal filler’s components. ALMI, however, is a natural rejuvenation procedure that activates your body’s tissue and cell regeneration process.

During the ALMI procedures, a small amount of fat tissues is harvested from your body via a needle-sized cannula. The fat tissues are then purified and turned into injectable materials. Next, a small amount of blood is also drawn to isolate your platelet-rich plasma. Once the fat tissues and PRP materials are processed, they’re injected into strategically-targeted parts of your body to catalyze your body’s cell and tissue regeneration. This procedure provides significant long-term cosmetic improvements without side effects or downtime.

What are my treatment options with ALMI?

ALMI for Face & Hands

As we age, the skin on our hands and face start looking wrinkled and saggy, which usually occurs due to the natural loss of collagen. During the ALMI treatment, fat tissues and platelets are harvested from the patient’s own body, processed into injectables and strategically injected into targeted regions, such as the areas around the mouth, temples, backs of the hands, etc. ALMI facilitates collagen production, making the skin on your face, neck and hands appear taut, full, smooth and supple. The production of collagen fibers fills out the wrinkles and fine lines. When injected into the lips, they make your lips appear voluminous and hydrated.

ALMI for Hair

Hair loss affects over 40% of all women and 70% of all men and its severity increases with age. Different people suffer from different types of hair loss, whether it’s thinning hair, patches of baldness, or a receding hairline. Studies have shown that the amount of stem cells in your scalp remains stable, but hair loss occurs due to their inability to facilitate hair follicle stimulation. The ALMI treatment draws fat tissues and PRPs from other parts of your body and injects them into targeted regions around your scalp to reactivate the dormant hair follicles during hair growth cycles. This procedure encourages your body to activate hair growth without surgeries, gradually improving your hair’s density and thickness.
