If you are beginning to experience signs of aging but do not want to wait to undergo more intensive surgery, the “California Lift” may be for you.
The California Lift is South Coast Plastic Surgery’s signature minimal-invasive facelift procedure. While traditional facelift surgery is appropriate for patients who would like to enhance their appearance by reducing wrinkles and sagging throughout their entire face, the California Lift is intended for patients who wish to reduce sagging and droopiness only in specifically targeted areas.
The California Lift cannot address such areas as the forehead or brow, as a traditional facelift does, but this procedure will help reduce minor sagging around the cheeks, jawline and neck.
Many consider the California Lift an attractive option as it can be performed relatively quickly, has the advantage of a smaller incision, and involves a shorter recovery period than traditional facelift surgery.
Please contact South Coast Plastic Surgery and schedule a consultation to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for this procedure.
The California Lift focuses on specific areas of the face, such as the neck and the jawline. Because the cosmetic problems targeted are relatively minor, the incisions made during this surgery can be quite small. As a result, the California Lift is one of the least invasive procedures in facial surgery.
By using small, inconspicuous incisions, and often taking advantage of endoscopic facelift technology, the surgeon will lift, reposition and remove facial tissue to achieve optimal results. Once factors contributing to unwanted sagging and drooping have been removed, the surgeon carefully repositions the skin using small sutures.
One of the biggest advantages of the California Lift is that the recovery time is much shorter than that associated with traditional facelift recovery.
Following surgery, patients are advised to rest comfortably at home for several days.
While most patients do not experience any significant discomfort after surgery, but you can expect to experience bruising and swelling for the first week to ten days of healing. During this time, low-dose prescription pain medication can help you maintain your comfort. You should be resting during this time, doing leisurely activities such as reading or catching up on television programs. We do, however, ask that you get up and walk around several times a day to boost circulation.
Patients are typically able to return to work within five to ten days after the California Lift. Patients who are not bothered by the bandages may be able to return to work sooner.
Aerobic activity may be resumed within ten to fourteen days after the procedure, while more strenuous activities may be resumed within three to four weeks.
